This network will address three (3) broad areas:

1. Understanding curriculum in relation to BIG ideas and foundational underpinnings: ask, “What must be taught and why?” to determine instructional focus i.e., planning with the end in mind.

2. Determining student prior knowledge (content and process) and finding ways to use this to guide instruction, i.e., responsive instruction.

3. Differentiating instruction in manageable ways, providing access and extension for all students.

Expectations of School Teams

• The team should comprise support teacher(s), divisional coaches, and if possible, principal and/or vice-principal.

• The team commits to 3 half day online networks sessions with Faye Brownlie.

• The team makes a commitment to an additional 3 half day co-planning sessions with teachers from the core subject areas - ELA/Math/Social Studies/Science - (different subject area teachers for each half day meeting) and then co-facilitating with the same teachers.

• The team creates a plan for sharing their learning with colleagues in other ways i.e.- staff meetings, pd days.

The school principals commit to providing time for teams to work with or alongside others.
